Your Drinking Water Is Safe
There are no impacts from the Coronavirus to any of the water systems listed below.
We want to reassure the community that Coronavirus, a respiratory illness like the flu or cold, is not spread through tap water.
Russian River Utility uses chlorine to eliminate pathogens (this includes viruses) to ensure safe drinking water for all the customers in our service areas. Your drinking water is tested regularly to ensure it meets all safe drinking water standards.
The water system management staff is highly trained and prepared for emergencies and has contingency plans in place to maintain your water supply.
Effective immediately and until further notice, water service provided to the systems listed below will not be terminated for nonpayment of customer bills due to financial difficulty resulting from the current crisis. And in consideration of the present crisis, any residence/business presently without water service will be reconnected without regard to nonpayment of outstanding charges.
Additionally, all late fees (if any) will be reversed. Please contact your water company should you see late fees assessed on your bills during this time.

Russian River Utility (RRU) is a water and wastewater management company incorporated in the State of California in April 1983. Russian River Utility owns one private water system. The water rates for this private system (Sereno del Mar) are overseen by the California Public Utilities Commission.
RRU provides both water treatment and distribution services and also wastewater treatment and water reclamation services. RRU also provides normal maintenance, monitoring, and preparation of reports for State and County requirements. Over 2,700 meters are read for 13 water systems, and bills are processed for 12 of those systems.
The operation staff is available on 24-hour notice. Emergency alarms are received via a personal cell phone activated by both the SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system and by the answering service.
